Cavallino Treporti

CAVALLINO TREPORTI is the shoreline between Ventian Lagoon and the Adriatic Sea; a territory born as an outpost for defending Venice, a place, made to become a tourist hot spot in the Ventian Coastline. As its neighbouring city of JESOLO, Cavallino Treporti's origins can be traced back to Roman times, when the first human settlements began to appear and steadily continued with a sudden boom in Medieval times, when Cavallino also acquired most of its territories. During the reign of the Serenissima Republic, Cavallino experienced an abandonment of its territories due to the deteriorations of sanitary conditions as more often the lands transformed into swamps plagued by widespread malarian outbreaks. From swamp to tourist destination seems quite unlikely but with bonification of the marshlands, Cavallino Treporti has developed into a flourishing city and holiday destination, often compared to its more famous counterpart Jesolo but without having anything to envy. Amongst the most important events of Cavallino Treporti, the PALIO REMIERO STANDS OUT: the 12 districts of Cavallino battle it out curiously by hitting their adversaries with Remi (oars). The challange excites still to this day the locals as well as tourists who gather on the second Sunday of June to watch this amazing event rooted in antique traditions. There are many events for tourists to experience whilst holidaying in Cavallino making it a much sought after holiday destination, which continues to experience demand for more housing developments beside the more traditional hotels/bed and breakfasts, which allow for more freedom in the way you want to conduct your holiday.
